How things should be Done!

How things should be Done!
Some things are better said than done! This New Year, let’s accomplish the opposite, by doing things always better than how they are said. If you put in the effort, it will be done as you desire for it.
I wish you all a more prosperous New Year in 2010!

No to "Cut and try"!

No to “cut and try”!
A change to be made, whether in business or within the family requires much thinking and much simulation. A “cut and try” method, without assessing the possible consequences, can be highly risky for a business enterprise.

Growing Up the Leaders of Tomorrow!

My book entitled, Growing Up the Leaders of Tomorrow is currently in Press and soon be available at Amazons. Author: Sanoy Suerte, RME /MBM

A new Tomorrow!

A new Tomorrow!
Many people continue to live in their past, and fail to move forward. Some are not even aware, they belong to such group. But onward must everybody go, and everyday is a new blessing and a new day. It is therefore necessary, that we let go of the past and live in what is required of us today. How? It’s your call. There are plenty of things you can do to free yourself from bondage. If there is a need to forgive (others or ourselves), then we must do it. It is only then that we free ourselves of past burdens, travel lighter, and be ready to face a new tomorrow.

Believing and receiving!

TellmeMore)
Believing and Receiving!
“Love like faith can move mountains.” Have you heard this before? Did you take it seriously? Do you know what Faith is like? Read this:

As earlier told by Christ, in an account of Matthew 17:20-“I assure you that, if only you have Faith as big as a mustard seed,…. You could do anything.” And in Mark 9:23-everything is possible for the person who has Faith; and in Matthew 21:22-“If you believe, you will receive, whatever you ask for in prayer.” In Mark 11:20-24, it was more emphatically and clearly stated and assured by Christ, “I assure you….and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him,…when you pray and ask for something, believe that you have received it, and you will be given whatever you asked.” Merry Christmas again folks. I don’t know if you came this far and had the time to analyze these biblical passages. I never did before, but have listened to these things from my elders, only that I never understood them in depth, including the promises until very recently. I hope You learned something to help you in your daily quest for a living. To me, it makes a lot of difference. I think, it will for you, too, if you believe.

Self-assessment!

Self-Assessment!
Not having a clear picture or assessment of our strengths and weaknesses as a leader or manager of our group, limits our capability to tap the opportunities laid down in front of us, and our ability to avoid or engage the day to day threats to our organization. By clearly knowing our strengths and weaknesses, we begin to appreciate better the opportunities and threats we encounter.

Problem Solutions!

Problem Solutions!
Of great concern, is the fact that some problems could have been prevented by more careful analysis and proper planning. There are situations of this kind in many problem solutions, and when such things happen, the occurrence may infer lack of foresight and lack of quality in the process of the formulation of the solutions. Can this be improved? I think, it should be. More experienced people, on a particular problem, may see what is forthcoming, based on their knowledge on problem solving, and therefore, should be counted in, whenever available when trying to resolve a problem. Another approach is to make a more thorough evaluation of the situation, prior to finalizing a problem solution, and to consider potential problems. This process is more commonly called, potential problem analysis. It is the analysis of potential problems “just as the name correctly describes it”; and it is the institution of counter-measures for each potential concern that has been identified. Should you have concerns on this matter, you may also consult the undersigned.(email to: sanysue@lycos.com)

Specially for you!

Specially for you, my friends!
Ask and you shall receive. Seek and you shall find. Knock and the door shall be opened for you. Sounds familiar? I think you have heard these words, too. You may have even heard it several times. But, did you really reflect on these words? They are real and true. In fact, assurance was even given that everyone who asks, shall receive, and he who seeks shall find, and the door will be opened to anyone who knocks. (Luke 11.9-10). Do you have faith in this? Ah, that could be a problem, if you don’t. Faith is always a requirement and in prayer. Have faith my friend. It might spell out the big difference for you, and getting what you really need. It is not really taught by Christians. It is also taught by secular gurus and laymen well experienced in the business of this world. Written by: Sanoy C. It can be agreed too, that matter is made of molecules, atoms, electrons, neucleus, neutrons, positrons and so on based on the latest discoveries in quantum physics. A quantum physicist writes now about the Law of attraction and about manifestations. He is in the internet. Look for Dr. Erik Amidi in the internet, and you can find him. There are also other books in the internet written about the Law of Attraction. Also, you can read the book of Mr. Napoleon Hill on similar account of the unseen material and the power of thoughts.

Human resources!

The Human resource! -Not a peripheral Function.
Commoditization of the human resource, and treating it as readily replaceable anytime would surely make the skills competency level of a workgroup inadequate, no matter how great the assurances could be from the immediate foreman. Everything has a time constant, remember!; The learning curve could never be too fast or exceptionally good all the time, particularly so, when you are constrained by your hiring rate, geographical location, benefits system, kind of organizational politics, temperament and attitudes of leaders, and prevailing culture. Striking a perfect match with the make up of an outsider, and a newcomer would not take place in so short a time, demanded by the business all the time. I hope one would appreciate at this point, why the seemingly peripheral human resource programs that are people oriented are not peripheral at all, but instead are really main stream activities to enhance the creation of a satisfactorily performing community.

Gases and Steam!

Gas and Steam flow metering!
When we are engaged in monitoring consumption or generation of gaseous materials, many people in management, or even among technical people, have the natural impulse of resorting to metering of the substance for purposes of budget monitoring and control. This in effect, results to either the purchase of sophisticated measuring facility with some computerized calculating functions for changes in the parameters on line, or inaccurate readings given by supposedly monitoring instruments that are put on line, but does not have the capability to measure instantaneous changes in parameters, like temperature and pressure.

We know for a fact that when temperature fluctuates, or when pressure does have changes, the fluid density also changes. Ordinary orifice meters and rotating-meters or displacement meters can measure volume, and mass based on fixed conditions as assumptions. These meters, in the absence of pressure and temperature corrections therefore are useful only for monitoring mass flow at fixed conditions. They become less useful and inaccurate with frequent changes in temperature and pressure over long periods , and can create confusion in the interpretation of metered data.

It is not easy to explain this to some management people. In this regard, other means of measurement have to be done in cases, where computerized systems for temperature-pressure corrections are not available. Usually, a competent operations man would measure fluid usage by indirect means, like measuring the tare-weight of containers or tare liquid level of tanks holding the gases or the water usage in the case of steam systems. These methods are far more reliable and accurate, than simply putting in the pipelines a non-correction capable meter.

Understandably, these appear crude to top management, but technically, it is more accurate. There is no sense in putting on line, a beautiful meter that will just create a confusion and a lot of inaccuracy and subsequent controversy. This explains, why you seldom see a metering device in a compressed air system, and a steam system output pipeline. If they are there, they are used more for short period experiments and tactical observation purposes, wherein temperature and pressures are monitored to be constant, but seldom used as an integrating system for a long period of measurement, unless corrective computational capability is also put in place. So, the next time you see a non-correction capable metering device in a gas or steam line, be cautious , be aware and knowledgeable of the limitations and manner of their usage or applications. An inaccurate device is no better than a seemingly crude method that provides accurate measurements.

Children and Parents!

Children and Parenting!
Children should be taught parenting. By parenting, it is meant here that children should learn how to take care of their love ones and people within their family, as well as their own child rearing. It is interesting that we don’t see much or hear much about a formal school for parenting. We even tend to believe ,because of such scarcity that there is no such thing. But parenting is learned usually, within a healthy family, where the kids are shown and modeled by daily examples, how to express their care and love for the less abled members of the family. This is the interesting part. Children, without being told learn to be loving kids, as love is being demonstrated and shown to them by everyday living, by the more senior members of the family.

What counts a lot for new supervisors/managers.

There are many things that a supervisor and a manager has to learn, in order to do and undertake his/her profession. Things like the basic functions of management of: Planning, Organizing, Leading and Controlling. Things and principles relative to the management of: people, machine, methods, materials and other resources. This is one area, wherein the theory of the man’s mind, being a “tabula raza” that evolves and develops overtime, based on experiences through the human faculties of: hearing, sight, smell, taste, and touch is supported. How a man is prepared, therefore to fit his area of responsibility and required level of performance counts a lot.

The Lord the Protector!

The Lord is my protector, he is my strong fortress. My God is my protection, and with him I am safe. He protects me like a shield; he defends me and keeps me safe. I call to the Lord, and he saves me from my enemies. Praise the Lord!
Psalm 18:1-3

The danger of death was all around me; the waves of destruction rolled over me. The danger of death was around me, and the grave set its trap for me. In my trouble I called to the Lord; I called to my God for help. In his temple he heard my voice; he listened to my cry for help.
Psalm 18:4-6

Protect me, O God; I trust in you for safety. I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; all the good things I have come from you.”
Psalm 16:1-2

Listening! Love of Organization!

Listening is a virtue that a leader should have to save a debacle perhaps, especially when nothing seemed to work in the past. The leader always sets the tone, and if things become ineffective, it is the leader’s responsibility to get things right and put matters back on track. Equally, the other members of the group should exercise their “loyal opposition” if they must. Quoting Galbraith, I must say, I totally agree with him under these circumstances, when he said: “These are the days when men of all social disciplines and all political faiths seek the comfortable and the accepted; when the man of controversy is looked upon as a disturbing influence; when originality is taken to be a mark of instability; and when, in minor modification of the scriptural parable, the bland lead the bland.” -J. K. Galbraith (1908 - 2006)-a Canadian-born U.S. economist.

Let’s love our respective organizations, and change how things are for the better, if they are not as they should be; when things are going haywire and there is something we can contribute; when our ideas are better, than what is laid on the table,- demanding to have the scrutiny it deserves; when the call for professionalism has been sounded by things that are not right; when pulling our heads together to arrive at the best ideas, more superior than the one at the table is being sought; when everything around us are in turmoil, and only a better idea can save the day for the greater majority, including the industry and the economy, where we are rightly situated to act and contribute our own ideas and talents. Please take note that knowledge is not a monopoly of one man or a few. That’s one reason, the very thing called organization, companies, groups, and teams have always been needed to exist among our midst. This we call a real need for teamwork!

Sparrows! Man! God!

Sparrows and man!
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather be afraid of God, who can destroy both body and soul in hell. For only a penny you can buy two sparrows, yet not one sparrow falls to the ground without your Father’s consent. As for you, even the hairs of your head have all been counted. So do not be afraid; you are worth much more than many sparrows!
Matthew 10:28-31

Idealists and Idealism!

Idealism!
Idealism is often associated with the youth. It is a belief that perfection and principles are realistic and attainable. Why it is often associated with the younger generation is for reasons not without basis. Many individuals, as they grow older become too tempered by experiences that tend to compromise principles associated with values and perfection. Thus, we often hear the justifications, “to err is but human, and to forgive is Divine.” Whether or not the saying is used appropriately in different situations to justify mischiefs , is for you to interpret, judge, reject or accept. But, one thing is sure. Idealism is something that is good, and is probably there, because the youthful mind is less corrupted by compromising human experiences that values highly, “expediency” over “principles”, that demand things to be earned the hard and better way. People of age therefore, who share the idealism of the youth, remain forever young at heart and have dispositions worthy of emulation. Noteworthy to consider is the fact that compromises are often sub-optimal. They fail to satisfy both ends of the bargaining table, and at best, provide a middle ground that is ephemeral in nature. Youthful idealism, therefore is not without basis, especially when pursued peacefully in search for excellence in performance and achievements, in lieu of mediocrity.

Leaders!

GrowingUp the Leaders of Tomorrow:
Insights for everyday living and Leadership preparations in business management .
Author: Sanoy C. Suerte, RME/MBM
Vol.1, November 2009

This tract is written and dedicated to young people, ages 16-40 years old, who are paving their way to become leaders and managers of business today and in the not so distant future ahead of them. People, who may have the early encounter and inclination towards the call of business as a youngster, or student and college graduates/non-graduates alike, who have decided to explore the world of business and necessarily the principles of management that go right along with it. This mini-book is only one of a series to be written in several volumes, similar to an ongoing compilation of articles, written by an author for different fora to help build a new generation of well balanced, humane oriented management and business practitioners, highly aware of the needs of the common man and society in general for sustainable development, and sound business principles. Being more of a compilation of important thoughts and philosophies than a normal standard pedagogical textual material, the series is arranged more liberally as a loose compilation of wisdom, purposely deviating from the normal logic of the common text book type of organization. May the younger generation continue to build a better society than they have found it.

Modeling other people!

Walking the talk!
A leader is seen and observed more often than anyone could ever imagine. His words are also taken by his constituents with serious weight and value. Often times, people mimic him. In this regard, a leader needs to be a true role model. He should therefore be careful in his words. He should have clear thoughts of what he believes in. He should always walk the “Talk”. Walking the talk creates credence. It indicates consistency. It manifests a true belief in something expressed by words. It shows truth from deep inside the person giving the talk. Where there is a contradiction between words and actions, it manifests lip service and words devoid of honesty. When you do this, you hurt yourself. You make yourself unhappy, and drives away the benefits of peace of mind found in honesty and the truth.

Culture and Details!

Learning the culture of others and important details!
Before you visit another country, it pays to learn as much information as you can about the country. This includes, simple courtesies, and friendly gestures, as well as knowing which things to avoid doing. Take for example, removing your shoes at the door steps of a Japanese house or a special section in a Japanese restaurant. Not all countries practice this. Where you do not know what is acceptable and what is not, you risk offending your hosts or create an impression of being rude. Such situations are sometimes remediable, particularly so, when someone with you, gives the cue or tell you about what is right and proper manners. But, what about not knowing the correct atmospheric temperature at your place of destination? Well, if you do commit a mistake of that sort, and it is winter time, you certainly end up being out there in the cold; not only figuratively, but literally and physically. So, whenever you travel, take time to check some details about your point of destination and learn as much as you can. It is one way to avoid unpleasant surprises, too. It’s part of growing up , you know.

I do this so that everyone from one end of the world to the other may know that I am the Lord and that there is no other god. I create both light and darkness; I bring both blessing and disaster. I, the Lord do all these things.”

Children!

Children must be taught!
Children need to learn more about the world. Being unduly aggressive and too cautious are extremes that may lead to nowhere, but experiences of people throughout history and those around us, and a deep understanding of their experiences are the best references and teachers that could not be discounted nor just dismissed. It is not enough to want or desire something without considering the price. You must also plan out things ahead of time and evaluate your willingness to pay for something you want.

Learn as much as you can!

One should take care ,not to err on the side of ignorance, hence must learn, whatever it is that needs to be learned from men in history; from their autobiographies; from those who have great insights; from our own evaluative capabilities and experiences. Remember, history can repeat itself, and may just repeat itself always, unless one influences the final outcome. Life so many say, “ is just how we make it!” So, be part of a great history in the making, and not otherwise.

The right attitude!

Developing the right attitude!
Why do people enjoy their jobs and others do not? Well, there could be many reasons behind this, and among them can be disillusionment with the system, credibility of the leaders, absence of real opportunities, health reasons, politics, friendships, adversaries , and many more. Some people are just not cut for the kind of environment that they are in at a particular time, or at the changes that are unfolding as they understand more the directions of the organization or the system. Under such conditions, one may or may not survive the job tenure and longevity, depending upon the attitude of the individual concerned. What is that ‘right’ attitude, then? It is a matched feeling towards what is happening in the system and one’s environment. When there is a mismatched situation, one can be facing to either adapt or adjust with the environment, or get out of the system outright. The determinant of this actually is the value system of the person involved. What comes to his mind as most important, and things that he believes are of great value to him at the very moment of the test will matter the most. Developing the right attitude, therefore can not be necessarily a static thing. It is highly dynamic and circumstantial. One may decide to be indifferent to certain things and to a certain extent, but when the time comes that the value system of a person is breached, some individuals just go overboard, and refuse to let go of their value system.

Knowing the Father!

Knowing!
Jesus said, “ My Father has given me all things. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”
Matthew 11:27

Selection! Implications!

Selection is an implication in Invitations!
When a person is invited to some activities, say a party or a gathering for a certain purpose, one can either accept or refuse. That is part of the gift of “free will”. When you accept, or reject an invitation, it is actually making a selection, whether you follow the easy way or the hard way. Easy and hard way is sometimes subjective, too. What can be easy to one , can be hard and difficult for another person. But, relative to a common objective to be attained and a proven prescribed way, the meaning of hard and easy can take a common meaning. Those who knows the way better, would tend to be more qualified to give guidance, and those who knows less , would tend to experiment through the school of hard knocks, before finding the way. Just like, operating a machine. Your choices can be to read the operating manual first, and learn to operate it properly, or tinker with the machine first, and rediscover, what is already written on the manual. Whichever way you choose, be aware of the situation, that you are making a selection, between an easy way or the hard way.

God and Wisdom!

God and wisdom!
For God in His wisdom made it impossible for people to know him by means of their own wisdom.
1Corinthians 1:21

Attraction!

The law of attraction!
Recently, I have read about the law of attraction. I also read about the vast resource that had been provided in the universe that is actually formless, unseen and needed to be formed by our thoughts. This was described by many in the past as positive thinking.
Is this real? Is this true? My answer to this is that it is something that is possibly correct and not far from the truth, if not exactly correct.

Biblically, God created the universe out of nothing. God created man in his likeness and in his image. Man was also endowed the gift of free will. When man fell out of God’s grace, and was driven out of paradise after eating the forbidden fruit, guards were placed to guard the forbidden tree to prevent man from eating the fruit again . There were also accounts in the life of Jesus, where the disciples were told that they did not have enough faith, that’s why they could not do what they were supposed to do. Peter walked on the water, but doubted walking on the water as he did, so he started sinking. 2Corinthians 4:18 mentioned about things that are unseen ,where we need to fix our attention. Well, you can interpret that in so many ways, but you can also take it as an instruction, how to live your life and how to direct your thoughts.

Covey, talked about self fulfilling prophecies, and some medical doctors talked about the placebo effect. So many things have been written about man’s brain capacity, and its ability to do things that have not yet been ordinarily done. Some say, we have only used 10% of what the brain power has as its capability. Then, many more things have been written about favorable attraction of things towards what we think, making our thoughts real eventually; which at times are dismissed as coincidences by not few, but many men. Whatever is the real fact, it remains that positive thoughts lead to something good, and negative thoughts to some lesser good. Should you believe that which is good? Does our human mind understand everything? We know it doesn’t, and there are many happenings that we can’t even explain. Whether the law of attraction is true or not, it pays to do that, which is good. So think positively and beware of negative thoughts that may destroy.

What lasts!

The Unseen lasts…!
For we fix our attention not on things that are seen, but on things that are unseen. What can be seen lasts only for a time, but what can not be seen lasts forever.

Honey, Traps, Hate, Anger, Jealousy!

Too much honey!
Too much honey is bad for you, and so is trying to win too much praise.
Proverbs 25:27

Traps! Hate!
People who set traps for others get caught themselves. People who start landslides get crushed. You have to hate someone to want to hurt him with lies. Insincere talk brings nothing but ruin.
Proverbs 26:27-28

Anger & Jealousy!
Anger is cruel and destructive, but it is nothing compared to jealousy.
Proverbs 27:4

Forgiveness, Enemies, Accusations!

Forgiveness!
If you forgive others the wrongs they have done to you, your Father in heaven will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive the wrongs you have done.
Matthew 6:14-15

Enemies!
...love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may become the sons of your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:44-45

Accusations!
A false accusation is as deadly as a sword, a club , or a sharp arrow.
Proverbs 25:18

Prayer and inner Peace!

Approaching God in Prayer and inner Peace!
Man needs to approach God from time to time. It is necessary. You may not realize it sometimes, but having a regular schedule everyday for this is good and helpful for everyone. Doing so, enables you to attain peace of mind. Do you want to enjoy peace of mind? Try doing your prayer time more regularly. Set a quality time to talk and listen to God almighty on a regular basis, if you have not done this yet.

Do you remember God only, when you are in deep trouble? Or only, when it is convenient for you? Well, please don’t. It helps you a lot when you have a more regular quality time talking and listening to each other, just like having it as a family affair, where husbands need to talk to wives regularly, and children need to talk to parents regularly and vise versa. You don’t have to believe my words for it. Just try your best to do it and see for yourself ,how you transform your life and family.

Security of God's People!

Security of God’s People!
Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which can never be shaken, never be moved. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people now and forever.
Psalms 125:1-2

Obedience! Psalms...

Obedience!
Happy are those who obey the Lord, who live by his commands. Your work will provide for your needs; you will be happy and prosperous. Your wife will be like a fruitful vine in your home, and your sons will be like young olive trees around your table.
Psalms 128:1-3

Obedience for growing kids!

Why is obedience important for growing kids?
There is a tacit assumption in the principle of obedience of kids to their parents. First, it is assumed that parents know better than kids, being exposed to a lot more experiences, and being older, too. Also, that kids may not have enough experience in decision making, and insights on the consequences of their choices. When kids, however outgrow their parents, become abled entities to handle the processing of information, then and only then should they consider choices with less parental guidance. Presumably, this happens upon reaching the age of independence. Be aware , however that assuming on the basis of age alone, is no guarantee at all of a correct decision or that the right choices are made, since some people do not grow in experience and maturity in phase with their biological age. Notably too, we need to continue to consult other people, particularly the people, who are more knowledgeable about something of interest, even at our ripe age of independent decision making. Nevertheless, obedience of growing kids is still something that has greater importance and some virtue in it. It is a training for kids on the recognition of people in authority , and an expression of consideration and love for parents or elders, too.

Giving Thanks!

Give Thanks! Greatness of the Lord!
Give thanks to the Lord, proclaim his greatness; tell the nations what he has done.
Psalms 105:1

The Pie! Sharing!

Your share of that Pie!
Everyone has been given a fair share of his pie in this bountiful universe, and it is wrong to grab the pie of others. When you transact with someone, be righteous. Be sure you have not taken, what is not rightfully yours. It is always best to be able to have your peace of mind, than be kept awake by that guilt on your heart.

The man at the Top!

Do we understand now, why very few violators come from those who made the rules? They simply amend or change the rules, when these adversely affect them. Is this healthy for the organization? It could be YES and NO. It all really depends on the judgment of the top-man and his values. Can you appreciate now, how crucial the selection of a top-man can be? The man at the helm can make or break an organization. Tsk!Tsk! Tsk! Unfortunately, you don’t select who the top man is. So, whenever, you have the chance to select the top man, better to do it well.

Profits! Bribes! Gentle Answers!

Profits and Bribes!
Try to make a profit dishonestly, and you get your family in trouble. Don’t take bribes and you will live longer.
Proverbs 15:27

Gentle Answers!
A gentle answer quiets anger, but a harsh one stirs it up.
When wise people speak, they make knowledge attractive, but stupid people spout nonsense.
Proverbs 15:1-2

Worry!

Worry!
Worry can rob you of happiness, but kind words will cheer you up.
Proverbs 12:25

Righteous Man!

The righteous man is a guide to his friends, but the path of the wicked leads them astray.
Proverbs 12:26

Prosperity and Generosity!

Generous!
Be generous and you will be prosperous. Help others and you will be helped.
Proverbs 11:25

Help!

Helping Others!
This is an issue with many men among us. Because of some traumatic experiences in the past, it is not easy for people to part with their hard earned resources. They tend to hold tightly on these resources for their future needs, only to find out later that even these resources will not be needed by them , where they are going. Then and only then are they forced to part with their resources. Have you heard about the birds and the flowers? They have been adequately provided for. How much more for man! Why worry so much about tomorrow? Why not part with some of your wealth now, and share them to help others. Doing it now, while you are able , gives you some merits and some satisfaction that you have done it voluntarily, and not by force of circumstances. I think, it is really good to give and help others, while you can. The saying that says that nobody is so poor that he has nothing to give is real. It is as real as the saying, “even the man, who has everything, would be so happy, if you would bring him love, not only on Christmas, but for every opportunity there is.”

Cruelty and You!

Cruel!
You do yourself a favor when you are kind. If you are cruel, you only hurt yourself.
Proverbs 11:17

Meeting a Friend!

What a great feeling you get, when you know friends are successful, and they remember and don’t forget who their friends and classmates were. In a book that I read, they call this altruistic joy. It gives you a good feeling.

How many among us, still have time for matters like this? Meeting friends, classmates, and relatives? Keeping in touch with them? Ah! Not so many I think. But, according to one sage, there is always time for something you want to do, and none at all for things you do not like doing. Almost everyone keeps saying, “I have no time”, and indeed one doesn’t have any. Worst, liking and wanting sometimes are not even considered anymore. Many have been enslaved to work. They always have no time. But wait! Is this happening to you?

Remember, what your teacher used to teach you in the elementary school, about crossing the street? Yes! You need to STOP, LOOK AND LISTEN. Try doing this in your life every once and a while. It will bring your feet back to the ground and make you reflect at what your real purpose in life is.

Embracing Wisdom!

Do not abandon wisdom, and she will protect you; love her and she will keep you safe. Getting wisdom is the most important thing you can do. Whatever else you get, get insight. Love wisdom and she will make you great. Embrace her and she will bring you honor. She will be your crowning glory.
Proverbs 4:6-9

Prosperity! Power!

Power & Prosperity!
Happy is the person who honors the Lord, who takes pleasure in obeying his commands. The good man’s children will be powerful in the land; his descendants will be blessed. His family will be wealthy and rich, and he will be prosperous forever.
Psalms 112:1-3

Wise?

Becoming wise!
The way to become wise is to honor the Lord; he gives sound judgment to all who obey his commands. He is to be praised forever.
Psalms 111:10

A servant and a Leader!

Servant Leader!
We hear many times that Power emanates from the People. This we recognize, especially during elections and voting periods. After that, the men in power, tend to forget it and act in a manner deviating from the servant leader mandate, and become tyrannical masters, rather than the former role. The leader should know better, and should learn to grow up in a different paradigm. A paradigm, where respect and recognition is earned rather than forced by imposition or intimidation. Imposition and intimidation may work for a little while, but after sometime, the people gets immuned to it, turn their back or just abandon the leader. When a leader has no following, what happens, then? A person without a following is nolonger leading anyone- not anymore, other than himself. A true leader is a servant leader. He is a leader, because people in their own volition, give him such honor to lead. That’s why, we say that power emanates from the people. A leader must therefore live up to it and remember to be a servant leader.

Early Campers! They stop climbing their mountains!

For the climber, who became an early camper, for a while, he thinks he had reached his pinnacle , only to find out later on, he hasn’t. These are mysteries of life. Surely though, man must set his objectives, and must know what to reach for. Until the day, however that man’s final breath has not been taken by his Creator, the climb has not ended. One must make sure that the time given him for which he is accountable, is time that is well spent. Man has been endowed the gift of discovering for himself the infinite bounty of things to do during his lifetime, and the “free will” to make choices.

Lifetime work??? No! Never!

Never work another day!
Do what you love and love what you do and you will never work another day in your lifetime.

The Lord requires!

What the Lord requires!
The Lord has told us what is good. What he requires of us is this: to do what is just, to show constant love, and to live in humble fellowship with our God.
Micah 6:8

Joyful! Glad!

Joyful and Glad!
I will still be joyful and glad, because the Lord God is my savior. The sovereign Lord gives me strength. He makes me sure-footed as a deer and keeps me safe on the mountains.
Habakkuk 3:18-19

Needs in Perspective!

Hierarchy of Needs in Perspective!
Remember the hierarchy of needs of Maslow? This is not a sequential thing. The state you are “in” goes up and down the ladder, time and again, depending upon your circumstances. Many gurus are saying, the theory is not empirically proven, but philosophically, we know that the multitude of experiences around us are witnesses to this effect.

Reflections on obedience and drinking!

Reflections!
These evil people have refused to obey me. They have been as stubborn and wicked as ever, and have worshipped and served other gods. So then, they will become like these shorts that are no longer any good.
Jeremiah 13:10

Drinking!
Drinking too much makes you loud and foolish. It’s stupid to get drunk.
Proverb 20:1

Leading !

Taking the lead among all others is knowing the men around us, and what they can really do; knowing our business, and knowing our roles; knowing how to leverage our talents, and knowing our own limitations. We just need to know the extent of our own capabilities as lead role players.

Blessings! Promises!

God will bless You!
The Lord your God will bless you in the land that he is giving you. Not one of your people will be poor if you obey him and carefully observe everything that I command you today . The Lord will bless you as he promised. You will lend money to many nations, but you will not have to borrow from any; you will have control over many nations, but no nation will have control over you.
Deuteronomy 15:4-6

Precedence Matters!

Bad Precedence!
Remember the poem on the crooked man, who made a crooked trail? It is a true account of human tendencies. Bad examples are copied and multiplied repeatedly. So also with the good ones. So, the next time you are about to act on something, do something, or make a decision, it is necessary to assess, whether or not it is going to be a good or a bad precedent. Your actions today, can be the same actions you will see among your children some years tomorrow. Just make sure, they are not actions that you would regret to see.

The Great and Mighty

Great and mighty is our Lord; his wisdom can not be measured. He raises the humble, but crushes the wicked to the ground.
Psalm 147:5

Praising the Lord!

Praise the Lord! It is good to sing praise to our God; it is pleasant and right to praise him.
Psalm 147:1

Kids and Guidance!

Guidance to Kids!
As kids grow up, they need more and more guidance in terms of knowledge and skills on how to deal with people around them. Some kids learn a lot from school about mathematics, sciences, and many others, but fail to get enough from their respective parents, due to their busy schedules. If parents want to have kids that they can be proud of, and develop more lasting commonality of thinking, they need to live, play, talk, and work on something more often than the usual schedule given by parents. It’s not easy to do, but it is a good investment. You see, nothing good comes so easily.

Victory,Promises,Praises!

Promises! Promises! And Praises!Victory!
So I will always sing praises to you, as I offer you daily what I have promised.
Psalm 61:8

O God, it is right for us to praise you in Zion and keep our promises to you, because you answer prayers.
Psalm 65:1-2

You answer us by giving us victory, and you do wonderful things to save us. People all over the world and across the distant seas trust in you.
Psalm 65:5

Interactions and what they are!

The beauty of interaction!
Interaction is doing something with someone or some other people beyond ourselves. It is a collaborative activity. In so doing, we grow ourselves. We learn new things. We learn to communicate better, and listen better. New information come our way, and sometimes, the ideas that we get become powerful motivational drives for us as individuals. Interactions help us discover a lot of things. So, whenever you find yourself not interacting with others, find a way to get out of your cocoon, and work yourself out to be able to interact with others. True to your private life, and true to your businesses and career. The beauty of it? The very same thing that is happening to you, also happens to the other person you are interacting with, like hitting two birds with one stone.

Forecasting and soft-wares!

Forecasting, is projecting future demands of our products, on the basis of historical data. A tacit assumption is that to some extent, the historical data would tend to be replicated or somehow be repeated. If it is not really so, because the demand is not replicable, then the data for each period must undergo some corrective adjustments, prior to its use in the demand forecasting model. The rest of the computations will then be mechanically done through computer softwares and mathematical formulas. Please don’t just plug into your model the historical data. You must understand the characteristics of your demand data first.

Perfect God!

God!
This God-how perfect are his deeds! How dependable his words! He is like a shield for all who seek his protection. The Lord alone is God; God alone is our defense.
Psalm 18:30-31

Hold on to wisdom!

Wisdom!
Son, hold on to your wisdom and insight. Never let them get away from you. They will provide you with life—a pleasant and happy life.
Proverb 3:21-22

Never, never, never! No!

Never accept "No" for an Answer!
I was reviewing my notes one day, and something reminded me about my boss for some time, who follows the above stated principle. The man never accepted “No” for an answer from any of his subordinates, and presumably from any of his other experiences. The man , became a celebrity and acquired so much wealth during his stint in the company. Would you want to try that yourself? I did use that principle so many times in my life, and it made waves of benefits, and plenty of things accomplished. So, the next time you are faced with a major obstacle, in your activity, think of this same principle. It may just save your project.

Praises!

A Song of Praise!

How good it is to give thanks to you, O Lord, to sing in your honor, O most high God, to proclaim your constant Love every morning, and your faithfulness every night…Your mighty deeds, O Lord, make me glad; because of what you have done, I sing for joy.
Psalm 92: 1-4

Thoughts!

Thoughts of what you want!
When we think of something we want , and we keep thinking about it, because that is what we really want, we tend to act, and do things gearing towards that thing that we want, and soon, almost everything by coincidence happens according to what we want.
That is a little known secret since time immemorial, hidden from those who only sees what is visible to the eye. What a pleasant universe, we are all in! We should therefore train our thoughts properly for the impact of the subconscious is high and mighty and can create the things that are desired by the thoughts we have..

Loving God!

Loving God!
We love, because God first loved us. If someone says he loves God, but hates his brother, he is a liar. For he can not love God, whom he has not seen, if he does not love his brother, whom he has seen. The command that Christ has given us is this: whoever loves God must love his brother also.
1John 4: 19-21.

Rebels!

Rebellious People!
The Lord spoke to me. “Mortal man,” He said, “you are living among rebellious people. They have eyes, but they see nothing; they have ears, but they hear nothing, because they are rebellious.”
Ezekiel 12:1-2

Success!

Success!
There is a saying that runs like this: “If you leave this world better than you have found it, then you are a success.” It is imperative therefore that you must contribute something to the world that you have found, and make it a better one, for you to consider yourself successful.

Treated as Grown up!

Being treated as a Grown Up!
Would you like to be treated as a grown up person? Then, act like one! Would you like others to respect you? Then, learn to respect them. Would you like to be treated as a learned person, then learn to be one.

Growing! Learning!

Growing Up and learning!
Growing up should be accompanied by learning. Learning enables survival. As the world around us becomes more sophisticated, all the more we need to learn many things. Learning, however should start within our closest or nearest sphere of influence. One of these is our very own lifestyle and our very own self. Do you know that a poor lifestyle could be the cause of some of our health problems? From one health magazine, that I came across with, it was highlighted that excessive weight alone can be responsible for painful knees, high blood pressure, diabetes, fatigue, etc. , and we know that weight gain could result from too much and poor quality of food intake. Do we then, spend some time to learn more about healthy eating? We should! By learning more about health, healthy eating, nutrition, food supplementation, and following a good lifestyle of work and rest, we start to feel better and enjoy more things made available to us by the Supreme Being.

Treasures! Treasures!

Spiritual Treasure!
Yet we who have his spiritual treasure are like common clay pots, in order to show that the supreme power belongs to God, not to us. We are often troubled, but not crushed; sometimes in doubt but never in despair; there are many enemies, but we are never without a friend; and though badly hurt at times, we are not destroyed.
2 Corinthians 4:7-9

Light!

The Light!
The God who said, “Out of darkness the light shall shine!” is the same God who made his light shine in our hearts, to bring us the knowledge of God’s glory shining in the face of Christ.
2 Corinthians 4: 6

Health and what you eat!

A healthy Diet!
What we eat has an enormous effect on our health. Do you believe that? If you do, then make sure that you be selective on what you eat. Knowing yourself is part of better control of your health. We can significantly reduce developing many types of illness by moderate exercise and a healthy diet.

God! Man!

God and Man!
Then God said, “And now we will make human beings; they will be like us and resemble us. They will have power over the fish, the birds, and all animals, domestic and wild, large and small.” So, God created human beings, making them to be like himself.

Genesis 1:26-27

Your Lifestyle!

Lifestyle!
Do you know that the kind of lifestyle you have affects your health? According to some of the authorities on the subject, more than 40% of patients with hypertension could get off their medication, if they would follow simple lifestyle changes. Think of your health. Have your lifestyle changed. Growing and getting old is not equal to being sick

The Only God!

The only God!
The Lord who rules and protects Israel, the Lord Almighty, has this to say:” I am the first, the last, the only God; there is no other god but me.

Isaiah 44:6

Principles! Principles! Principles!

Why Principles are Important!

Life is full of paradox. It is like being in an ocean or a jungle. A lot of things can happen requiring a decision. If one does not have belief in certain principles, he floats like a Jelly fish, getting carried by the ocean current, wherever it goes, and whenever it likes. It is like, being a ship without a rudder and a compass, and no motive power at all. It is a terrible situation to be in. To live life in full, and be happy, one must believe in good principles to walk thru life. It may create some external challenges, but one is always at peace with his inner self and his Creator. After all, man does not live by bread alone, but by every Word that comes from the mouth of God. The man who lives a just life, truly is under the employ of the almighty, and is adequately provided.

A Tree! The Fruit!

A Tree and Its Fruits!

To have good fruit you must have a healthy tree; if you have a poor tree, you will have bad fruit. A tree is known by the kind of fruit it bears.

Mathew 12:33

How we eat?

How do we eat? How do we Live?
How do ants eat the cake on the table? One bite at a time. That’s how we should eat. A bite at a time. That’s how we study. One topic at a time, one page at a time, one chapter at a time. How do we build a structure? One piece at a time. How should we live and grow? One day at a time. We progress by each day and we toil, worry and take care of the concerns of today. Yesterday is done, and tomorrow is another day to look forward to. Until tomorrow comes, there is little we can do to live it or change its circumstances, other than to prepare at best, what is needed for tomorrow that can be done today.

Sons and Daughters!

Reflections!

Have nothing to do with what is unclean, and I will accept you. I will be your father, and you shall be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.

Corinthians 6: 17-18

Grow some more!

Is Growing Up for Kids?

Growing up is a sign of life. A sign of improvement. It is for kids, as well as adults. So obvious in fact, seemingly, but many fail to notice it. Everyone has to grow up in many ways, especially in the way we think, and perceive the world around us. Cast your eyes farther around you towards the horizon, and you will see life better and grow some more.

The Laws!

The Laws of the Lord!

The Law of the Lord is perfect; it gives new strength. The commands of the Lord are trustworthy, giving wisdom to those who lack it. The Laws of the Lord are right, and those who obey them are happy. The commands of the Lord are just, and give understanding to the mind.
Psalms:7-8

Grow overnight? Patience , a Virtue.

Growing Up Overnight! Patience is a Virtue.
This is a dream that everyone has for his kids. But, when they have grown up, you miss their being kids, so you start pampering your grand children, and sometimes overdoing it.
There’s no such thing as growing up overnight. Almost everything has some kind of a time constant. It takes time to bear a child, a time to have him/her learn to talk, a time to learn to walk, reading, writing, go thru school, etc. A tree does not grow and bear fruit, overnight. We know this, but we continue to wish times are shorter, and when you are there, you wish it to be longer. Patience is a virtue. Don’t lose it.

Reflections! Fortunate!

Reflections!

As for you, how fortunate you are! Your eyes see and your ears hear. I assure you that many prophets and many of God’s people wanted very much to see what you see, but they could not, and to hear what you hear, but they did not.

Mathew 13:16-17

The Reward for Keeping the Sabbath!

Reflections!

The Reward for Keeping the Sabbath:
The Lord says, “If you treat the Sabbath as sacred and do not pursue your own interests on that day; if you value my holy day and honor it by not traveling, working, or talking idly on that day, then you will find the joy that comes from serving me. I will make you honored all over the world, and you will enjoy the land I gave to your ancestor, Jacob. I the Lord, have spoken.”

ISAIAH 58: 13-14

Planning and forecasting!

There are many techniques used in forecasting. These are covered in the area of study of Operations Research (OR) or Business Operations Optimization. Two main stream categories are commonly in use, (a)Time Series Models, and (b) the Multiple Linear Regression models.

These techniques, are useful for mathematical prediction purposes, but should not be used blindly. A good understanding of why the past demand behaved the way it did, must be understood as well, and that projections into the future, should be tempered by the possible effect of future events or business conditions, relative to the products or service being analyzed. Remember, flexibility is always part of the key for a successful business.

On Riches! The Way Towards It!

Riches!
"The men and women who practice the foregoing instructions will
Certainly get rich, and the riches they receive will be in exact
proportion to the definiteness of their vision, the fixity of their
purpose, the steadiness of their faith, and the depth of their
gratitude."
— Wallace D. Wattles

Reflections!

Reflections!

10.20.09

I waited patiently for the Lord’s help; then He listened to me and heard my cry. He pulled me out of a dangerous pit, out of the deadly quicksand. He set me safely on a rock, and made me secure.

Psalm 40: 1-2

The Unique Gift!

Man has been endowed a very unique gift. He can train his thoughts and create something out of the universal vast resources that had been created and provided for him by the Supreme Being. He was made in the likeness and image of God, and was told that, if only his faith is as large as a mustard seed, he can command a tree to uproot itself, and replant itself, somewhere. We often think in terms of the resources that are obvious, and visible to us. That’s regular thinking. Regular thinking, however is not in the vocabulary of exceptional beings. It is the way of the ordinary and the traditional conformist.

Reflections!

Light shines on the righteous, and gladness on the good. All you that are righteous be glad, because of what the Lord has done! Remember what the holy God has done and give thanks to Him!-

Psalm 97:11-12

Starting today, Oct 19, 2009 we will include some reflections to help you live through life in full!

Growing Up! Success in Life!

Growing Up and Success in Life!
As we grow up, we often get advices about living, about success, and about many things in life, from parents, teachers and mentors. Life is how you make it, is what some would get as an advice. How do you ensure success then in what you do? And how do you make a successful life? Well, many advices had been uttered in this regard, and always as ever, the very first questions on where you are intending to go, and where you are now, are discussed at the very first tee? For one to be successful, one must therefore know what he/she is trying to achieve. Have you heard this before? True. Without knowing your target end state, you can never know, and measure your success. I mean real success. Knowing where you intend to go, would help you measure, how far or nearer you are to that point of destination. Then, you know, whether you are progressing, succeeding or stagnating.

Learning! Growing!

Learning and Growing!

Do you know that learning everyday is something that you need to contemplate about? Growing up is needed everyday inorder to exist satisfactorily and fulfill your own mission in this Universe. Part of growing up is learning. What can you learn everyday then? Plenty, if you really think about it. Even if you only learn one particular new idea everyday, can mean 365 ideas everyday. One skill everyday, and you learn 365 every year. But, have you ever wondered, why you have learned less than ten ideas or skills every year or even year after year? It’s because, you simply did not set it out as your objective. You kept repeating what you already know everyday, and stayed contented with that. So, if you want to keep on growing and learning everyday, set your eyes and goals to accomplish that everyday.

Getting Back to work Fast!

Getting back to work fast!

Some people these days lose their jobs, out of reasons that do not really concern their skills and circumstances. In short, things happen, because of forces external to them, and none of these could be their fault or of their own doing. Even then, things like these can happen to everyone, and anyone at any time.

What then do you do under this circumstance? Well, the thing to do, if you don’t know yet, and have not read the writings of Jill Konrath is to get back to work as fast as you could, and she tells you how. One way of course that you can do is do some job hunting again, using the old model of finding a job. But , I think, the better way is for you to follow her non-conventional way of finding a job and get back to work as fast as needed. Better still I think is to quit having a boss, and build your own business using , whatever skills and resources you already have.

If you need to grow in this area again, find Jill Konrath from the internet and read her book. It surely would help you discover more of your inner strengths and self.

Growth by Inter-action

Growth by Inter-action.
When we go out into the world around us, we meet different kinds of people. People with different professions and areas of interests. People who knows something about something in varying degrees, and if we just listen to them, we can learn from them. So, given this premise, it is therefore important that we inter-act with people as much as we can. If the nature of our work is for us to be confined in a small room or be at our comfort zone only, let’s find time to inter-act with people at least everyday. That way, we grow by inter-action at least everyday.

Growing up with simple Courtesies!

Courtesy and growing up!

Do you know what happens when you extend another person proper courtesies and greetings, when you meet? The person being given due courtesies, feels important and elated. He in turn is prompted to return the same courtesy, and the transaction runs better, than when one of the transacting parties feel offended at the very start of the meeting. This is also part of setting the tone of the meeting. Try this one time, you may reap wonderful results. This is part of our growing up. We need to learn many ways about greetings.

Anything under the sun!

Every mind has its own train of thoughts at any given time, and we can think of almost anything we want to do or wish to have. We can therefore talk here about any topic, but focus is also important. The theme for a certain period therefore, will have to be fixed, and tentatively for now, we want to talk about growth. How people grow and transform themselves. Should you have anything to contribute about growing, growth, transformation and getting better in life, Please Tell me More by giving your comments.
